Built To Last
How Are We Constructed?
In 1994 Jim Collins wrote a book entitled BUILT TO LAST - Successful Habits of Visionary Companies and in this book talks in great detail about how successful- lasting companies are constructed. In fact - he studies companies that last beyond their founder and what they did to last. This concept has always intrigued me as it relates to the church. It’s intriguing to me not only for the church as an organizational entity but especially for those that make up the church, you and me. David writes that we were fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God and that speaks to me that we were built to last. Sadly, far too many Christians just seem to fade out instead of blazing over the finish line.
Recently, I have been losing some weight and I have been amazed at how much more energy I have throughout the day. It really does not make logical sense to me - I am eating less and doing more, go figure! But as I really think on it - the weight that I am losing is weight that was not good for me to have. It was the weight that was holding me back from operating at my greatest potential and I am NOT taking in some of the poorer nutritious foods that hindered my health. In other words, I am healthier now than I have been in years and that will result in me doing more for the Kingdom of God.
God has a perfect plan for us to live, plus He’s got perfect habits for us to engage in so that we can follow His visionary leadership. Join us each Sunday in September as we look closely at how we should be built.
